While the world appreciated the Academy for recognising talent beyond boundaries and language barriers when they presented Parasite with Best Picture award at Oscars 2020, US President Donald Trump did not think it was a good idea. While delivering a speech at a rally on January 20, Trump mocked Oscars for the South Korean film’s historic win, Variety reported.

As Bong Joon-ho accepted the third Oscar for the night for his masterpiece of a film, Parasite, the South Korean filmmaker made sure to give a major shoutout to his fellow nominees - Martin Scorsese for The Irishman, Quentin Tarantino for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Sam Mendes for 1917 and Todd Phillips for Joker.

Bong and company packed up after the event dissipated and headed out into LA's Koreatown for a late-night celebration at the restaurant Soban.

Parasite made history this week. The South Korean movie directed by Bong Joon-ho won three prestigious awards at the 92nd Academy Awards. From bagging the Oscars for Best Direction to beating 1917, Marriage Story, Jojo Rabbit and several other movies to bag the Best International Feature, Parasite became the first international movie in the almost 100-year long history of the award show to have won the Best Picture award. The movie has received praise from critics all over the world. 

It was Bong Joon-ho's night as his masterpiece Parasite dominated at the Oscars 2020 and picked up not one or two, but four Academy Awards. Parasite won the Oscar for Best Picture, the Academy Award for Directing for Bong, International Feature Film and Original Screenplay for Bong and Kwak Sin-ae. The reason why the Best Picture win, in particular, is so monumental is that it's the first South Korean and more significantly non-English language film to be honoured with the prestigious award.
