All movie theaters in New York City and Los Angeles have been forced to closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Universal Music Group’s home offices in Santa Monica, Calif., were evacuated Friday after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus. All staffers were directed to leave the buildings “in an orderly manner,” although the discovery was made toward the end of the day and a source tells Variety that most of the staff had either left or were already working from home.

The New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment today announced that it has awarded a total of $2 million to 94 projects in music, theatre, film and digital media projects led by artists who identify as women. The grants, designed to help the artists complete their projects, are the second round of the NYC Women’s Fund for Media, Music and Theatre.

The 2020 GLAAD Media Awards have been cancelled.

Prosecutors in Los Angeles have started the extradition process to bring Harvey Weinstein to California, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.

The process has begun for Harvey Weinstein to be sent to Los Angeles to face charges of sex abuse. The news from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office was announced the same day the 67-year-old disgraced former movie mogul was sentenced to 23 years in prison by a New York City judge after being convicted of similar crimes there.
