Pan Nalin Movie Selected as Gala Presentation at Indian Film Festival

EXCLUSIVE:  Olivia Thirlby is joining the star-studded cast of Christopher Nolan’s feature film Oppenheimer. 

The 35th Israel Film Festival in Los Angeles will open next month with the L.A. premiere of Avi Nesher’s Image of Victory, which was nominated for a leading 15 Israeli Academy Ophir Awards last year. The film kicks off the hybrid in-person and online festival that runs May 5-26 and will see Henry Winkler receive the IFF Career Achievement Award and philanthropist David Wiener bestowed with the IFF Humanitarian Award.

He had fans hooked in his portrayal of the violent Brummy gangster Tommy Shelby in six seasons of BBC’s cult show Peaky Blinders, and after the show’s ending, actor Cillian Murphy shows no sign of slowing down.The Irish actor, 45, has been snapped on the set of his new movie, Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan, alongside American actor, Robert Downey Jr. Cillian will play J. Robert Oppenheimer, an American theoretical physicist and professor of physics, who developed the world's first atomic bomb as part of the Manhattan Project, in the new movie.

Coming off the blockbuster success of S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR, star Ram Charan is hardly sitting on his laurels. Releasing April 29 is action drama Acharya which he’s producing and starring in with his father, the prolific actor Chiranjeevi. He’s also currently shooting RC15 (working title), a political drama from 2.0 director S. Shankar, and has more projects in the pipeline.

Elsa Keslassy International CorrespondentReims Polar, a new international festival set in Northern France and dedicated to police thrillers, has awarded Wen Shipei’s “Are You Lonesome Tonight?,” Adikhan Yerzhanov’s “Assault” and Lado Kvataniya’s “The Execution.” The selection of Reims Polar is curated by Bruno Barde, who is also the artistic director of the Deauville American Film Festival. “Assault,” a dead-pan thriller set fictional village in rural Kazakhstan and revolving around a school hostage situation, won the festival’s Grand Prize Award.

Led by Cannes’ artistic director and general delegate Thierry Fremaux, the selection committee has been flooded with late submissions and is now in the thick of deliberations.Most surprisingly, according to two well-informed sources, there will even be a David Lynch feature film which has been completely off the radar and stars Laura Dern — either as a cameo or a supporting role — along with some other Lynch regulars.We already know the sun-dappled celebration will land several high-profile films from U.S.

Naman Ramachandran Popular Indian television soap star Helly Shah is debuting in cinema with feature film “Kaya Palat” and short “Zibah.” Inspired by the true story of rival mafias, “Kaya Palat” is a dark thriller set in Jammu, which is part of the politically volatile state Jammu and Kashmir. Principal photography has commenced on the outskirts of Jammu.

Angelique Jackson Sandra Oh and Stephanie Beatriz will receive special honors at the 2022 Outfest Fusion QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous and People of Color) Film Festival.Oh will be presented with the James Schamus Ally Award, which recognizes a great ally to the LGBTQ community, while Beatriz receives the Fusion Achievement Award, which recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to LGBTQ stories, arts, and media visibility. The honors will be bestowed at the film festival’s opening gala on April 8.

The highly anticipated and Covid-delayed release of Indian action film RRR opened with a bang as distributor Sarigami Cinemas said it’s grossed $4.5 million including late night and early morning shows and anticipated a $12-$15 million weekend.
