Outlander fans are gearing up for another bout of ‘Droughtlander’ in their life as the mid-season finale for series seven looms. But some may have been slightly confused today if they were keen to get their final fix of Jamie, Claire and the rest of the fan favourite cast for a while.
There’s a break of two weeks between episode seven and eight, meaning we’ve got to hang on that wee bit longer to get the next instalment. And then there will be a break before the next eight episodes, which are thought to be airing in early 2024.
It was some cliff-hanger fans were left on last week when Jamie was taken out on the battlefield and little Jemmy was kidnapped after Rob Cameron figured out Roger and Brianna’s time-travel secret.
Some fans on twitter have suggested the “story is just getting going” for season seven and they’ve expressed their disappointment at the long interval between the first and second halves of season eight. Producers had said this would be happening to facilitate the bumper season seven - which has extra episodes because to make up for restrictions to filming on season six brought on by the pandemic.
But though it might be frustrating it, one positive way to look at this week’s extra time between episodes is we’re one week closer to the second half of season seven!
According to Lionsgate+, which streams Outlander in the UK, the reason for the extended break between the penultimate and the midseason finale is it’s a “skip week” in the show’s schedule. Lionsgate+ also say it’s “purely a scheduling decision” and it’ll be shown next Friday, August 11 instead.
But what can fans expect when the final episode in this block finally airs? If the trailers for ‘Turning Points’ are anything to go by, they can expect lots.
