Rivals in life, the rappers Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur were united for an auction at Sotheby’s last month, the first-ever dedicated hip-hop auction at a major international auction house.

Notorious B.I.G’s iconic plastic crown was sold for almost half a million pounds at a Sotheby’s hip-hop memorabilia auction in New York yesterday (September 15).The crown was worn and signed by Biggie, real name Christopher George Latore Wallace, in a 1997 photoshoot with Barron Claiborne, just three days before the rapper was shot and killed in Los Angeles.

After its debut at this year’s Sundance, “Charm City Kings” was poised to have a great run in theaters thanks to a distribution deal with Sony Pictures Classics. In fact, the film was going to play at SXSW and then get a release in April.

Taken separately, the names Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, and Joe Carnahan all probably bring to mind macho, action-packed films. But combine the acting talent of Butler and Grillo with the filmmaking style of Carnahan, and you’re likely in for a film filled with so much testosterone that you might have to wipe yourself down after viewing it.

Gerard Butler is adding another action-thriller to his portfolio, this time for newly-relaunched distributor Open Road Films. The Fallen franchise star is set to take the lead in Copshop alongside Frank Grillo, with Joe Carnahan (The Grey, The A-Team) set to direct.
