Noam Emeran has admitted that Donny van de Beek advised him to join Dutch side FC Groningen following his exit from Manchester United.
The Frenchman, 20, finalised his move to the Eerste Divisie outfit on Thursday for an undisclosed fee. It is understood that the Reds have inserted a significant sell-on clause in the deal.
Emeran, who scored in United's 2-0 pre-season friendly win over Leeds United last month, spent more than four years at Old Trafford as a youth player. He signed his first professional contract in November 2019 but failed to make a single first-team appearance for the club.
Despite his potential and promising showings in pre-season, Emeran accepted that it would have been difficult to secure regular first-team football at Old Trafford. United are well-stocked in the wide areas with several senior figures ahead of him in the pecking order.

A switch to Groningen, who were relegated from the Eredivisie last season, should provide him with the platform to embark on his senior career. And he has admitted that Van de Beek, who could join him in leaving Old Trafford ahead of next Friday's transfer deadline, informed him about the qualities of Groningen.
"I regularly participated in the first team of Manchester United in pre-season," said Emeran. "Teammate Donny van de Beek told me that FC Groningen is a good club, with a lot of support.
"I have seen a video of the supporters during the previous home game. They really want to fight for their club, and I want to fight for the supporters."
