It is our job to stay in the background and navigate the public-facing and oftentimes private worlds of the talent we represent. It’s a career that I have loved for nearly two decades. Publicists are paid a fee to deliver impactful campaigns that can move the needle for our clients’ careers, but my journey is much deeper than media placement, making sure that photo approvals are completed, or ensuring that a plane arrives on time for an overseas premiere. Representation is a responsibility, and not one that I take lightly.  In 2010, I launched Persona PR out of my apartment with no larger agency experience and have worked to build my business from the ground up. As my company has expanded over the years, I have grown into more than a talent representative, and am now a full-fledged business owner, taking on employees and their livelihoods and wellbeing. The couple was expected to be on hand for the July 23 event at The Montalbán Theatre in Hollywood, but their rep tells Variety that will not make an appearance due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. “We understand that Melissa and Ben are unable to join us for our closing night due to the strike,” Outfest executive director Damien S. Navarro said in a statement Thursday afternoon. “We will miss them, as our closing night will be a wonderful celebration of our community.”

On-location television production in Los Angeles declined 36.4% year over year during the second quarter of 2023 as the Writers Guild of America put pencils down and went on strike after contract negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers fell apart. Television production had an aggregate total of 2,630 shoot days, according to FilmLA, a partner film office for the city and county and other local jurisdictions.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass on Monday stepped up her rhetoric on the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, calling for “a fair and equitable solution” in contract negotiations for both sides.“Los Angeles is experiencing a summer of struggle to make ends meet,” Bass said in a statement. “Whether you’re a writer who has been on strike for more than 72 days or an actor who has been on strike for 72 hours, wages and health benefits to afford housing, food and the basic necessities to survive should be a minimum requirement in discussions.”She added that “a strong business sector is essential for our city to become affordable for working families once again,” noting that the Los Angeles is facing “a historic inflection point” as the entertainment industry experiences economic pressure and business uncertainty.“A fair and equitable solution must be reached,” Bass said, adding that “in all industries — education, hospitality, goods delivery or entertainment — Angelenos deserve fair contracts.”Meanwhile, California Gov.

Thania Garcia Gunna has announced a pair of headlining concerts — his first in two years — set to take place later this September. The shows will support the release of his fourth studio effort “A Gift and a Curse,” and come months after his release from jail following his plea in the YSL gang case. Gunna will perform first on Sept. 9 at New York’s Barclays Center in Brooklyn for a show dubbed “The Gift,” and follow up with another show, “The Curse,” at YouTube Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 28. Tickets for both shows will be available for general purchase starting July 21, and presale tickets for Citi card members will be available July 18. Artist Fan Club and Spotify Fan First presales go on sale July 19. In partnership with PLUS1, Gunna is also donating $1 per ticket to the Goodr Foundation, an organization supporting hunger relief initiatives.

Thania Garcia Ahead of Lil Baby‘s “It’s Only Us” tour start date in Texas next week, the Atlanta-based rapper has removed 10 cities from the original 32-stop lineup with little explanation.
