Nike have suspended their relationship with Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood as he continues to be questioned by police.
Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault on Sunday afternoon and on Monday Greater Manchester Police confirmed they had been granted an extension to continue questioning him.
GMP said earlier on Sunday they had been made aware of "online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence".
United have confirmed Greenwood won't train or play for them until further notice and Nike have now confirmed their relationship with the player has been suspended.
“We have suspended our relationship with Mason Greenwood. We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation," the company said in a statement.
Greenwood was in custody overnight on Sunday and police have now been granted an extension to continue questioning him.
A GMP statement said: "Detectives have been granted additional time to speak to a man in his 20s who is being held on suspicion of rape and assault of a woman.
"The suspect was arrested yesterday (Sunday 30 January) afternoon and remains in custody.
"Enquiries are ongoing and the victim is being offered specialist support.
"We remind people to avoid any commentary or sharing of images that could compromise the victim's right to lifelong anonymity, or risk prejudicing a live investigation with active proceedings.
