Yellowcard is moving forward with its copyright infringement lawsuit against Juice WRLD (née Jarad A. Higgins), despite the rapper’s untimely death on Dec.

Juice WRLD was set to headline the most recent iteration of rap megafestival Rolling Loud over the weekend. That plan, of course, couldn't happen, due to the rapper's tragic passing last week at the age of 21.

Pop punk band Yellowcard is moving forward with its $15 million lawsuit against late rapper Juice WRLD over his breakout single, “Lucid Dreams.” According to documents obtained by XXL on December 17, the now-defunct group filed a motion to extend the amount of time that representatives for the Chicago native and his co-named defendants have to respond to the original complaint.

Following the death of Chicago rapper Juice WRLD earlier this month, his close friend and collaborator Ski Mask the Slump God has been open on social media about his grief. The two had been friends for a while, and in 2018 announced they were working on a joint project reportedly titled Evil Twins.

The $15 million lawsuit brought against Juice WRLD by pop-punk band Yellowcard over his hit single “Lucid Dreams” was put on hold last week after the tragic and untimely passing of the 21-year-old rapper. XXL has now confirmed, though, that Yellowcard are going to continue pursuing the lawsuit.

Tribute posts have been flooding social media from those who got to know Juice WRLD or were just impacted by his music from afar before his death. Nearly 10 days later, Lil Bibby, a mentor of Juice's and an executive at the Grade A Productions label he was signed to, broke his silence Tuesday (Dec. 17) with a heartbreaking post eulogizing his late friend. 

Although Lil Pump took the stage at the Los Angeles edition of Rolling Loud over the weekend, fans didn’t hear one of his biggest hits: “Drug Addicts.” Setlist.fm shows that he’s often played the song at recent shows, but a report from TMZ claims he left it out of his Rolling Loud set in light of the recent death of Chicago rapper Juice WRLD.

Christmas came early today (Dec. 16) when the Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey took the Billboard Hot 100 throne for the 19th time in her career with "All I Want For Christmas Is You," the first time the 1994 seminal holiday single has topped this chart. 

Prior to Juice WRLD’s recent death at the age of 21, the Chicago rapper was scheduled to perform at Rolling Loud LA. Instead of cancelling his set, the festival’s organizers opted to hold a tribute featuring performances by some of his closest friends and collaborators, including Ski Mask the Slump God, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, and G Herbo.

Earlier this year, Halsey released a remix of her hit “Without Me” featuring rapper and singer Juice WRLD. That remix was probably part of the reason “Without Me” eventually went to No.

Following the Chicago rapper’s passing on Dec. 8, both his debut album, Goodbye & Good Riddance, and former No. 1 album, Death Race for Love, landed back in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200.
