It was the happiest of new years for one Stirling couple as they became the first to tie the knot in the region in 2023.
Thomas Irvine, 49 and new wife Tracy, nee Hendry, 47, wed at Old Viewforth in the city on January 6 at 2.30pm - with the couple’s registrar confirming to them before the ceremony that they were the first marriage to be recorded in the entire Stirling area.
The Observer has since confirmed that this is indeed the case, with no other weddings taking place in the council region in the first few days of 2023.
Thomas told the Observer: “It’s been an amazing feeling to find out that we were the first couple to be married in Stirling in 2023.
“We were both overwhelmed finding out and we had a perfect day at the registrar’s office and our registrar Lynne Steele who carried out the service was absolutely fantastic.
“We had our family with us for our perfect day; we were teenagers when we first met and were lucky to find each other.
“We have been together for around seven years now and I’ve always known that we would be together.”
