Newborn baby car seats, life jackets and hair dryers sold on TikTok recalled

Items the Office for Product Safety and Standards have recalled this month include life jackets sold on Amazon over ‘serious drowning risks’ and a hairdryer sold on TikTok with a ‘high risk of fire’.
Children's items including a baby car seat and a high chair have also been recalled due to risk of injury.
Other recalled items listed by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute include mini chainsaws and hair curlers.
Product recalls are actions taken by traders when there is a safety issue with a product that could potentially harm its users.

Venicci Engo Car Seat recalled on May 7, 2024
The following notice has been issued by the Office for Product Safety and Standards.
Product details: Venicci Engo Car Seat
Type: Childcare articles and children’s equipment - Child’s Car Seat
Brand: Venicci
Country of origin: China
Product description: Black car seat with handle for newborn babies to 13kg.
Risk statement: The product has been found to present a risk of injuries as a number of the car seats within the affected batch numbers had a screw working loose resulting in the handle not operating correctly. This could cause the handle to become detached.
The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
Corrective action: Owners of affected car seats should stop using them immediately.
