The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run was scheduled to open in theatres later this summer, but now Paramount bosses are releasing it as a video-on-demand package in early 2021, following the success of family films like Scoob! and Trolls World Tour, which scrapped traditional releases due to the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent shutdown of cinemas around the world.
