The contents of Harry and Meghan’s long-awaited Netflix documentary were as “predictable” as they were explosive, according to the Daily Mirror’s Royal Editor.
In an opinion piece today, Russell Myers claims the fallout could finally force the hand of the rest of the royal family to go against protocol and hit back against the couple - creating further chaos for the monarchy and the “maximum devastation” the Duke and Duchess intended.
The first three instalments of the six-part docu-series dropped on the streaming giant last Thursday and the next three episodes are set to hit screens this Thursday (December 15).
According to the latest trailers, viewers can expect more private snaps, adorable footage of kids Archie, three, and Lillibet, one, never seen images from their 2020 wedding, as well as clips filmed during the couple’s exit from royal duties and the UK. There are also scenes from the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral appearing on one advert, as well as a voiceover of Prince Harry claiming people were "happy to lie" to protect Prince William but were unwilling to do the same thing for him and his wife Meghan Markle, who can be heard saying she was “fed to the wolves”.
Myers reckons that, despite hopes that the warring sides may have mellowed in the wake of the Queen’s death, the show has provided the Duke and Duchess with a platform to “stick the boot in” once and for all and he believes senior members of the royal family will have no choice but to speak out against the latest revelations. He also claims the relationship between Prince Harry and the Prince of Wales has been damaged beyond repair.
