New Order have announced a one-off show in Los Angeles, with Blossoms to support.The band will be performing at the 6,000-capacity YouTube Theater in the city on November 15, which is a warm-up show ahead of the band’s appearance at Darker Waves Festival in Huntington Beach on November 18. Millions of households across Great Britain are at risk of becoming ill because they are not switching on their heating when it is cold, a consumer watchdog has warned. A Which? survey of 4,000 people found high energy bills had led to almost nine in 10 households (85%) trying to cut back on their energy usage, while nearly half (46%) said they had not turned their heating on when it was cold last winter.
Health experts warn that maintaining cold temperatures in homes in winter can place people at higher risk of developing respiratory and cardiovascular diseases like asthma attacks, infections, heart disease and strokes.
Some 37 per cent of those surveyed said they were worried that their ability to recover from illness was worse now than before the cost of living crisis began.
The findings come ahead of Ofgem's new energy price cap starting on October 1. The energy regulator recently announced it is lowering the energy price cap by £151 from the current £2,074 per year to £1,923 for millions of households across Scotland, England and Wales.
The slight drop will benefit households on a standard tariff with typical usage, however, it’s important to remember that the price cap doesn’t relate to a cap on the amount of money people will pay for using gas or electricity. The cap limits the amount that a supplier can charge per unit of gas or electricity they sell, which means if you use more, you’ll pay more. Similarly, use less and you will pay less.
