As the newly minted Aurora Teagarden, Skyler Samuels has been opening up about how she made the character her own in several interviews.

Candace Cameron Bure may have left Hallmark, but the network is already moving forward with one of her signature titles but with a new actress. Hallmark previously announced that it would be reworking the film series Aurora Teagarden as part of Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, with a prequel. Bure starred in the popular Hallmark franchise as the titular librarian for 18 films.

Hallmark reimagines the beloved amateur sleuth with the upcoming prequel movie, , which sees Skyler Samuels stepping into the shoes of the titular heroine previously played by former star Candace Cameron Bure.In the film, which premieres Friday on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, a fresh-out-of-college Aurora finds herself back home in Lawrenceton. Her mother, Aida (Marilu Henner), struggles to keep her newfound real estate business, while Aurora supports herself by working as a teacher’s assistant in a crime fiction class and waitresses at the local diner in the evenings, where she shares her love of true crime with her friend, Sally (Kayla Heller), and police officer, Arthur (Evan Roderick).Of course, something arises that puts Aurora's sleuthing skills to use: When Sally’s fiancé doesn’t show up at their wedding rehearsal, Aurora recruits Arthur to help her search for him.

The by-the-bootstraps business story from Searchlight premieres June 9 on Hulu. Franklin notes that the film’s business trajectory began as a theatrical film. When Hulu came into the picture for a streaming debut, Franklin didn’t balk.
