Netflix has confirmed that there will be a Bridgerton prequel series all about the young Queen Charlotte and her rise to power and prominence. The matchmaking matriarch, played by Golda Rosheuvel, is one of the most beloved characters in the hit show.
Now, fans are being promised even more cutting, sassy content as she takes centre stage in her own spin-off series alongside two other grand Dames, Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) and Lady Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell). Netflix executive Bela Bajaria explained: “Many viewers had never known the story of Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton brought her to the world, and I’m thrilled this new series will further expand her story and the world of Bridgerton.” It's also been revealed that the anticipated prequel will focus on the young Royal's marriage to King George. Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes and her company Shondaland, who are behind Bridgerton, will continue to create the spin-off show.
