Netflix & J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Team For U2 Scripted Series

“The United States of America Vs. Vince McMahon” has found its showrunners. Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster will co-showrun, write and executive produce the series from WWE and Blumhouse Television. The show was in development last year.

Joe Otterson TV ReporterThe scripted series about WWE boss Vince McMahon’s federal steroids trial has brought on Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster, Variety has learned.The pair will serve as writers, executive producers, and co-showrunners on the limited series, which is titled “The United States of America vs. Vince McMahon.” It was first announced as being in development back in July 2021.

FX has set the date of its Danny Boyle-directed limited series about Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones. Pistol will premiere May 31 exclusively on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ in UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

Bridgerton fans were thrilled when they tuned into the first episode of the Netflix regency drama and heard Nicola Coughlan use her real accent. Nicola, 35, is best known for her role in the Channel 4 sitcom Derry Girls based in Ireland and in season two of Bridgerton, Nicola got to showcase her Irish accent. In the hit Netflix series, Nicola stars as Penelope Featherington who typically speaks with a posh London accent as she is the youngest daughter of a nouveau-riche family in the period drama.

Sharon Horgan’s first series for Apple TV+, an adapting of the Belgian version of Clan, will be titled Bad Sisters. The previously untitled project, co-written, executive produced by and starring Horgan (Catastrophe, Shining Vale), also announced Anne-Marie Duff (Suffragette), Eva Birthistle (Brooklyn), Sarah Greene (Frank of Ireland) and Eve Hewson (Behind her Eyes) as Horgan’s co-leads and released a first-look image of the quintet as the title characters (above).

The CW has handed early renewals to a large portion of its scripted schedule including The Flash.

U2 may be getting its own television series from Bad Robot.

A new show about U2 is in development at Netflix!

Netflix is in early development on a scripted series inspired by the rock band U2, sources close to the project confirmed to Deadline. It hails from J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot Productions, and Warner Bros. TV, where Bad Robot is under a deal. Oscar-nominated screenwriter Anthony McCarten (Bohemian Rhapsody) is attached to pen the series.

Netflix is upping the cost of its subscription plans in the UK and Ireland with its standard package increasing in by £1 ($1.31) to £10.99 ($14.46) in the UK and by €2 ($2.20) to €14.99 ($16.54) in Ireland.
