Netflix Catches ‘Run Rabbit Run’ Starring Sarah Snook Ahead of Sundance Debut

“The Cell” director Tarsem Singh is making his global comeback with his first Indian film, “Dear Jassi,” based on a true story with plot details being kept under wraps. Singh made his name with visually dazzling fantasy films like “The Cell,” “Immortals” and “Mirror, Mirror” but has been mostly out of action since helming the single 10-episode season of NBC’s “Emerald City” in 2017. “Dear Jassi” will be his first feature since “Self/Less” in 2015.“It’s my passion project,” Singh said of “Dear Jassi.” “I believe this is the right time for the world to see it.

Netflix has released the key art for its anticipated upcoming One Piece live-action series based on one of the best-selling manga titles of all time. The series is slated to premiere later this year.

Her son takes over, and he tries to stave off foreclosure even though he initially has little interest in greasepaint and the boards. The project grew out of Booksmart, another Gloria Sanchez production. Elbaum & Ferrell produced with PictureStart’s Erik Feig (who financed), Samie Kim Falvey, Julia Hammer, Ryan Heller, Maria Zuckerman, Noah Galvin, Gordon, Lieberman and Platt.

In a festival of world premeries galore, Sundance may have had its greatest debut ever tonight.

You don’t get very far into “5 Seasons of Revolution” before you realize something is off with one of the documentary’s participants. That person is Susu, a friend of the film’s director (simply credited as “Lina”).

The horror genre is littered with creepy kid movies; some, like “The Babadook” and “Us,” are vastly better than others. Unfortunately, even with clear evocations of both those films, “Run Rabbit Run” by director Daina Reid (“Shining Girls”) and screenwriter Hannah Kent is not destined to be a classic of this sub-genre.

“Can people come back?” asks Mia, the cute little girl whose increasingly hair-raising antics are the crux of this atmospheric Midnight premiere from Australia. From the dead, she means, and it’s a macabre thought that Daina Reid’s effective but perhaps overlong debut feature film plays with quite tantalizingly, right until the end. Although the tease may wear down commercial audiences expecting to find out one way or the other, Run Rabbit Run will find favor on the arthouse and especially the festival circuit.

EXCLUSIVE: Some were expecting Netflix to curb their acquisitions here in Park City, but, as we told you earlier this morning, never count them out of the Sundance marketplace. Before its premiere in the midnight section tonight, the Reed Hastings-Ted Sarandos-run streamer has scooped up a majority of global rights on the Australian horror movie, Run Rabbit Run, starring 2x Emmy nominated Succession actress Sarah Snook. XYZ Films, which co-funded the film, brokered the deal with Netflix on behalf of the filmmakers. 

Earlier today, Netflix unveiled its teaser trailer for all of the major film releases the streamer will debut in 2023. Yes, there were the usual suspects, folks like Kevin Hart, Adam Sandler, and Chris Hemsworth all have new projects coming to Netflix, per usual.

Netflix offered a first look at its 2023 slate of films on Wednesday, including a brand new thriller from David Fincher, a sci-fi epic from Zack Snyder, Chris Hemworth’s “Extraction” sequel, a Jennifer Lopez survival movie and an Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston comedy.Hemsworth will return in “Extraction 2” this summer on June 16, with Sam Hargrave back in the director’s chair for another action-fueled adventure.Fincher’s “The Killer” – which reunites the filmmaker with his “Seven” screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker for a serial killer tale starring Michael Fassbender – won’t arrive until Nov. 10, so Fincher fans have awhile to wait.Ditto Zack Snyder’s next film, “Rebel Moon.” That project is a two-part space epic, with the first installment set as Netflix’s big holiday season release on Dec.

Netflix has unveiled its 2023 feature film slate, consisting of 49 titles.

Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, it was her first kiss. Sink joined the cast of the hit Netflix series in its second season, playing the no-bullshit, skateboarding California girl Max Mayfield. Max and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) grow closer after fending off demogorgons and eventually share their first kiss at the Snowball Dance in the season two finale.
