Netflix said today it’s raising prices on some of its plans in the U.S., U.K and France with the Premium subscription Stateside now set at $22.99 a month, up from $19.99. The Basic plan (which is being phased out and is no longer available to new members) will now cost $11.99 from $9.99
“While we mostly paused price increases as we rolled out paid sharing, our overall approach remains the same — a range of prices and plans to meet a wide range of needs, and as we deliver more value to our members, we occasionally ask them to pay a bit more,” the company said to in its letter to shareholders accompanying quarterly earnings.
The increase are rolling out today. Netflix with ads ($6.99) and the Standard plan ($15.49) are staying the same
The streamer is also adjusting prices in the U.S., U.K. and France. Pricing for the Ads plan, Basic, Standard and Premium are, respectively, UK £4.99/£7.99/£10.99/£17.99 and 5.99€/10.99€/ 13.49€/19.99€. As in the U.S., the Ads and Standard plans in UK and France are unchanged.
“Our starting price is extremely competitive with other streamers and at $6.99 per month in the US, for example, it’s much less than the average price of a single movie ticket,” the letter said.
