A neighbourhood has been rocked after a woman was subjected to a 'serious' sexual assault on a Bolton street. Police were called to reports of a woman being attacked on Almond Street in Farnworth at 12.50am on Sunday (August 21).
The woman is thought to have left a premises on Market Street before walking along Market Street, King Street, Albert Road, Harrowby Street and onto Almond Street - where the assault occurred. She is currently being supported by specially trained officers.

A cordon was in place on Almond Street at the junction of Ashworth Street for a number of hours on Sunday morning. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, residents who live in the area have expressed their shock at the upsetting news.
One resident said: "It’s usually an incredibly quiet area. I’m shocked to hear something like that has happened and it’s upset me actually. What an awful thing to happen.”
Another described the moment they were woken up by the police and watched cops set up a cordon in the area which remained until after midday. Speaking to the MEN, they said: "I was woken up by police late last night, I saw blue lights and when they were setting up the cordon. They also set one up on the pathway next to my house.
"Blimey that’s terrible, this is a quiet area and it’s mostly older people who live here. That’s awful.”
Another resident incensed at the attack, called for more patrols in the area late at night. They said: “We need more police around here, the people of Farnworth are fed up!”
