Netflix’s Squid Game is the basis of a new reality show where 456 contestants compete for a huge cash prize.Based on the South Korean drama, Squid Game: The Challenge sees contestants take part in various games inspired by the series for a chance to win $4.56million.A synopsis for the show reads: “As they compete through a series of games inspired by the original show – plus surprising new additions – their strategies, alliances, and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them.”The first five episodes will arrive on Wednesday November 22 at 8am GMT in the UK. This translates to 12am PT and 3am ET in the US.The remaining five episodes will be released in two batches: with four episodes arriving on Wednesday November 29, before the final the following week on December 6.Netflix released a trailer for Squid Game: The Challenge last month – check it out above.Squid Game, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, was officially renewed for a second season in June last year.

NCT have announced the release date for their upcoming concert film, NCT NATION: To The World.Today (November 2), Trafalgar Releasing announced in a press release that NCT’s upcoming concert film NCT NATION: To The World will hit cinemas worldwide this December. Notably, Trafalgar Releasing previously distributed NCT Dream’s 2022 concert film, NCT Dream The Movie: In A Dream.The movie will follow the K-pop boyband during their concert at the Incheon Munhak Stadium in South Korea, which took place on August 26 earlier this year.
The show, held in celebration of NCT’s ‘Golden Age’ album, was the first-ever live concert by the boyband, following the online ‘NCT: Resonance Global Wave’ show in 2020.According to a press release, NCT NATION: To The World will feature performance by sub-groups NCT 127, NCT DREAM and WayV, as well as the rotating unit NCT U. The film will also include “exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpses that promise to add an extra layer of excitement”.NCT NATION: To The World will be available in theatres on two nights only, on December 6 and December 10.

K-pop streams globally are up 42 per cent over the past year
Luminate, a provider of music and entertainment data, the Top 100 K-pop artists globally have racked up a total of 90.4billion streams across audio and video services so far this year.The figure is a 42.2 per cent increase as compared to the same period in 2022, with Japan having the high number of on-demand streams at 9.7billion, up from 8.6billion from the year prior.The US came in second with 9.2billion, a marked increase from 6.6billion in 2022. Rounding out the Top Five in terms of most on-demand streams are Indonesia (7.4billion), South Korea (7.3billion) and India (6.2billion).In its report, Luminate also broke down the regional composition of streams for a number of top K-pop groups.
