Although it's due to forces beyond its control, NCIS will conclude its 17th season on CBS next week, just shy of 400 episodes. That whopping number is a testament to the enduring allure of the police action procedural: running since 2003, NCIS has, as fans know, bred two spinoffs NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans, each of them success stories in their own rite. However, the show has not officially been picked up for a Season 18 at CBS — yet.

Count NCIS: Los Angeles among the many shows that had their production schedules interrupted by the coronavirus outbreak. That means Sunday's episode, "Code of Conduct," will be its last for Season 11 — but not the finale producers originally had planned. That said, the upcoming story is hardly lacking in impact: In the episode, Callen (Chris O'Donnell) and Sam (LL Cool J) head off to Afghanistan to investigate some heinous activity on the part of a service member.
"We're trying to talk about the city of our future"
NCIS: New Orleans had to abruptly cut its sixth season short after production ended in early March due to coronavirus, so the episode that ended the season ("Predators") wasn't exactly what producers had in mind as a farewell. Nonetheless, the episode did a solid job of bringing some storylines full circle — especially big arcs for Pride (Scott Bakula) and for Hannah Khoury (Necar Zadegan) as both of them got to have closure on some pretty significant matters.
