Scots have been left scratching their heads after rampaging llamas were spotted roaming the streets of Dumbarton.
The three cheeky animals were seen wandering around a residential street at around 12.45pm on Saturday afternoon.
Locals were in stitches as pictures emerged on social media of the llamas - with no obvious reason of how they got there.
In one image, a stunned resident can be seen standing in his front garden watching on in awe while a red Audi approaches one of the animals which is standing in the middle of the road.
Two more llamas can be seen on the pavement of the street nearby.
In another comedic picture, the three llamas can then be seen chasing each other down another street in the town.
One local, who initially mixed the animals up with their Camelidae twin, said on Twitter: "Right who’s lost their pet Alpacas in Dumbarton?"
Posting the second picture, another local laughed: "So many questions. Gonna go guide them to my mums garden."
Naturally others in the comments started poking fun at the poor animals, as one said: "Wouldn’t like to cross them as I’ve heard they can alpaca punch."
Another added: "Alpacca my bags and get on up there to say hello to these wee cute beasties."
The joke, however, was on them as the the animals were in fact llamas - which are larger than alpacas.
The mystery, though, remains of how they got there, or where they came from - but it's understood the animals were soon rescued by cops.
One local explained in the comments: "They were taken safely home by police."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.45pm on Saturday, April 2, police received a report of three Llamas on High Mains Avenue, Dumbarton who then made their way onto a cycle path heading towards Old Kilpatrick.
