'My dad shot my rapist dead on live TV. People see it as act of love - not hate'

A father shot a child abuser dead live on TV as payback. Gary Plauché executed Jeff Doucet as Doucet had molested and kidnapped his son, Jody Plauché.
A recording of the murder, which took place 40 years ago, goes viral almost every year around the anniversary of the assassination. But it is often removed from social media by site moderators within hours amid claims the clip is too disturbing to show.
Gary isn't viewed as a villain, or evil murderer who committed a cold-blooded killing, with many seeing what he did on March 16, 1984 as "an act of love, not an act of hate".
And Jody has spoken about how his dad acted in the aftermath of his crime. The Mirror reports he told The Mirror US: "People would see him as some type of vigilante.
"He didn’t like that, even though that’s what he did. He would say a vigilante is somebody who’s going out looking for it. He was just being a father. That’s how he considered it."
From that moment, both Gary and Jody's lives were changed forever as regrets seeped in, traumas came to the surface and life moved on for both men. Dealing with what happened was harder for Gary than it has been for Jody, however.
Gary, who died in October 2014 at the age of 68, lived with regrets, some of which he dealt with and many he didn't. "He regrets he had to be put in a situation to do what he did," Jody explained. "He regrets that the whole situation happened."
But Jody emphasised that his father did not ever regret the way he responded to the ordeal, by shooting and killing Jody's former karate teacher, Jeff Doucet, as he was escorted through the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport after being extradited from California.
