The family of a man who was brutually murdered say they hold police accountable for his death - after his killer was allowed to walk free days before carrying out his horrific actions.
Steven Harnett, 25, and his girlfriend Katie Higton, 27, were brutally murdered by her violent and jealous ex-partner Marcus Osborne. The murderer - who has today been handed a whole life order - had been reported to police just days before the sadistic killing after he told her: "If you ever get a new boyfriend, I'll kill you both."
Osborne was taken in for questioning after he had also told her he would slit her throat, but was released 10 hours later on bail. He then went on to kill the couple in scenes likened to a horror movie, YorkshireLive reports.

All the while, another terrified woman was held captive in the house, who he then raped at knifepoint.
Osborne has now joined the short list of UK prisoners who will die in jail. He was told he will never be released from prison on Friday as The Honourable Mrs Justice Lambert made him the subject of a whole life order at Leeds Crown Court.
Today, Steven's twin brother Jordan slammed the force, saying: "The police have failed Steven and Katie - a young couple who had their whole lives ahead of them... How many more people is this system in place going to fail without their outdated policies,

lost his bid for taxpayer-funded UK security protection for his family and will now have to pay out of pocket for his family’s security when visiting the UK.Court documents have revealed that Harry even asked for the identity of who demoted the level of his personal protection on home soil.“I would like that person’s name,” Harry said, according to the 52-page ruling published Wednesday.Sir Peter Lane, the judge of the High Court in London, ruled that there was no unlawfulness in the initial decision to strip the Sussexes of their security.Harry could now potentially be made to foot a large bill to reimburse taxpayers’ legal costs after he was unable to prove that he had been treated “unfairly.”The exiled royal argued that he was not given the “same degree” of protection after quitting royal life, and even compared his situation to the dangers his late mother, Princess Diana, faced before her tragic death in 1997.Harry told a hearing that security concerns were preventing him from visiting his home turf. However, Judge Lane said that “there is no merit in this contention.”“The UK is my home. The UK is central to the heritage of my children,” Harry last year told the court in a written statement read out by his lawyers.
