A mum has spoken of her "rollercoaster" cancer battle after an "easily ignored" sympton led to her diagnosis on Christmas Eve. Christine Amyes first noticed that she needing to use the toilet more than usual in late 2021, Manchester Evening News reports.
Although not overly concerned and having no other symptoms, the 61-year-old decided to book an appointment with her GP and was referred for further tests. A few months later on the night before Christmas, she was giving the heartbreaking news that she was suffering from bowel cancer - and needed surgery urgently.
The mum-of-two had her tumour removed at Wythenshawe Hospital before undergoing a bowel resection, which involves part of the bowel taken out. Christine, who lives with her husband Roy in Sale, now requires a stoma bag as a result of the procedure.
“I had been to the doctors and I wanted an answer as soon as possible, I just needed to know and unfortunately I found out on Christmas Eve,” the retired housing association director said. “They were reassuring and said it was early days and so we were hopeful of the treatment plans. It’s been a real roller-coaster, but my family have been my amazing support network and my four-year-old granddaughter Alex has kept all our spirits up all the way through; of course, she doesn’t really understand what’s going on, but she’s been wonderful.
“Before my diagnosis I was always very cautious and careful and planned lots of the future, but you don’t know what that future is and so I am much more about living for the here and now these days. That’s what I am trying to pass on to my family as well, to make the very most of every day.”

The tension surrounding Jenelle's appearance at the party mostly involved star Jade Cline, who replaced Jenelle on the reality show after she was fired. Jenelle was fired in 2019 after an incident involving her husband, David Eason, allegedly shooting the family's dog, Nugget. Jade calls the tension over replacing Jenelle «this awkward thing,» saying she's worried about getting sucked into the former MTV star's drama. A post shared by Jade Cline (@jadecline_)«I feel bad, something happened with David or something, I don't know, it's like you want to be there for people, but at the same time, I don't want to get bit in the a** for people who go and turn around and talk s**t,» Jade says.
