A much-loved Glasgow University professor has passed away, leaving colleagues heartbroken.
Greg Philo, researcher at Glasgow Media Group, died earlier this week, with uni bosses sharing their heartache following the devastating news. Loved ones, including former pupils, took to social media to share their memories.
The professor, from Milngavie, has been described as a "fearless activist" who was passionate about union rights, refugees, Palestinian sovereignty and social justice.
University of Glasgow Principal, Prof Sir Anton Muscatelli said: "Greg was a driving force of the Media Group for many years and a very popular colleague and teacher. My deepest condolences to his family and friends on their loss."
Des Freedman wrote on X: "RIP Greg Philo - the fearless activist academic and researcher whose work for the Glasgow University Media Group on news bias and power influenced so many people."
