Morrissey has blasted celebrities and music industry figures who have paid tribute to Irish singer Sinead O'Connor after it was announced that she had passed away, aged of 56.
Sinead's family said they were 'devastated' by her death and penned a heartbreaking statement: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time."
The Irish singer's death came just 18 months after her 17-year-old son Shane took his own life and tributes have been pouring in from far and wide for Sinead.
Many famous faces including Piers Morgan, Conor McGregor, Russell Crowe and Niall Horan have all flocked to social media to pay tribute to the woman who helped put Ireland on the map during one of its grimmest times.
And as the celebrity tributes continued to flood in, Morrissey, 64, released a furious statement on his website criticising the response to the singer's death, asking 'where was the support for her while she was still alive', writes The Mirror.
Sharing a post called 'You Know I Couldn't Last', the musician wrote: "She was dropped by her label after selling 7 million albums for them. She became crazed, yes, but uninteresting, never. She had done nothing wrong.
"She had proud vulnerability and there is a certain music industry hatred for singers who don't 'fit in' (this I know only too well), and they are never praised until death - when, finally, they can't answer back. You praise her now ONLY because it is too late. You hadn't the guts to support her when she was alive and she was looking for you."
He went on to compare Sinead's death to those of other tragic female stars including Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, and Judy
