More than a dozen GP surgeries in Greater Manchester received an “inadequate” or “requires improvement” rating in their latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. The CQC inspects health providers and gives them one of four overall ratings - outstanding, good, requires improvement, or inadequate.
A total of two GPs surgeries in Greater Manchester received the “inadequate” rating at their latest inspection, while a further 11 were deemed to require improvement, as of February 1, the most recent date available. You can can see if your surgery is among them using our interactive map below.

Across England as a whole, a total of 51 GPs surgeries received the “inadequate” rating, while a further 251 were deemed to require improvement. The CQC does not rate GPs surgeries alone - patients have their say as well.
