More than 1,000 people in Greater Manchester hospitals beds have no clinical reason to be there, according to the latest NHS update.
The figure now stands at 1,006 beds filled by patients medically fit enough to go home - some 17.6 per cent of all general, acute and adult critical care beds in the region.
Meanwhile, the total bed occupancy within Greater Manchester remains just above 90 per cent, as 5,448 beds were full, as health leaders have said anything beyond 85 per cent is 'very uncomfortable' for hospitals.

That number of hospital beds occupied by patients well enough to go home has risen in recent weeks.
On Sunday January 16, the figure was 999 beds. According to the latest data issued for Sunday 23, the number of people medically fit for discharge had increased by seven beds.
Across England, there were 12,984 beds occupied by patients who no longer needed to be in hospital, up from 12,767 beds occupied on the Sunday before.
The Manchester Evening News understands that one of the principal reasons why so many people are stuck in hospital beds, while healthy enough to go home, is the chronic lack of resources within the social care sector, coupled with Covid outbreaks within care homes.
Care homes have been closing their doors to new residents in an attempt to contain the spread, while staff within care go off sick with the virus themselves, significantly limited the workforce.
However, staff absences have continued to fall within the NHS.
A total of 17,035 days were lost at Greater Manchester hospitals in the week ending January 23 because staff were sick or self-isolating due to Covid.
