From shrunken beef and overcooked lamb to soggy vegetables and lumpy mashed potatoes, everyone has suffered a cooking faux pas. Luckily, award-winning chef Tom Kerridge is back to save the day with More Sunday Lunch, where he has fabulous recipes up his sleeve. “To be back for a second time is magic,” says Tom.
“The dishes are so diverse, it’s not just about roast beef and Yorkshire puddings – although they are included. But it’s also about connecting to people and sitting down around a table with food.” Over eight episodes, Tom creates classic roasts, along with dishes like crispy duck pancakes and a French seafood bouillabaisse, as well as delicious desserts including profiteroles, tarts and a salted caramel apple pie. Tom will be seen cooking the food at home and serving it to friends and family.
While they are all keen to tuck in, the chef says one person is guaranteed to be his trickiest customer. “The hardest person to impress is my own son,” laughs Tom, who shares eight-year-old Acey with wife Beth Cullen- Kerridge. “Everybody who’s a parent will say the same thing, when you get your kids to eat anything, their natural reaction is ‘ugh’.
My son is as bad as anybody else’s kids.” The show is not only about food, but also about bringing family together – so how does Tom spend a typical Sunday? “It’s normally my day for cooking,” he says. “My little man plays rugby on a Sunday and I go along. I’m one of the coaches.
Well, more of a classroom assistant … “I usually do something that’s slow-roasted. We get all the prep done on a Saturday evening, so I can stick it in the oven on a Sunday and go to rugby. We’re back four hours later, lunch is ready in the oven and the house smells lovely.” Watch Tom Kerridge's More
