Modern Family Cast: Then and Now

Television audiences are saying farewell to two landmark comedies: Schitt's Creek and Modern Family. Both shows demonstrate that the family sitcom is alive and well and they're true comfort viewing, especially in a time when we're all physically distant but still want to feel emotionally connected to humanity.

The group crying began after the final scene of the last episode of ABC’s “Modern Family” was taped — with the notable exception of Ed O’Neill, who plays patriarch Jay Pritchett.

Modern FamilySeries finale After 11 seasons, the beloved long-running comedy series will come to an end, as Sofia Vergara, Jesse Tyler-Ferguson, Ed O’Neill, Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen return for the final episode. Ahead of the two-part series finale, ABC will also air a one-hour documentary chronicling the show’s epic run and feature exclusive interviews with the cast, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at their emotional final table read.When: Wednesday on Global, ABC

Sarah Hyland was hoping for more for Haley Dunphy on Modern Family.

How many sitcoms run for 11 seasons? Very few. “Modern Family” will celebrate its glittering run with a one-hour special that segues directly into the back-to-back final episodes.

LOS ANGELES -- Writer-producers Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd were mulling ideas for the 2009 TV season when they landed on an intriguing sitcom approach, one revolving around an extended family and done in the “mockumentary” style made popular by “The Office.”

Where’s Haley? It’s a question that many Modern Family fans have been asking during the final season of the ABC sitcom, as the character, portrayed by Sarah Hyland, has had much less screen time than usual during season 11.

Sarah Hyland isn't totally satisfied with how her character, Haley Dunphy, is ending her time on ABC's  after 11 seasons. The 29-year-old actress appears on the May cover of (with only a large hat covering her body) and gets candid about her take on the end of the popular series. 

There's officially just one more episode of Modern Family. Or rather two.

It was a sad day for Modern Family fans across the globe when it was announced on Sunday, March 15, that Stella the French bulldog that belonged to Ed O’Neill’s character Jay Pritchett passed away. Beatrice (the name of the beloved Frenchie) came on in season four of the hit ABC show to replace her fellow Frenchie and doggy actress Brigitte. In an interview with Bodie on the Road, owners Guin and Steve Solomon shared how Beatrice was one of the family while on set.
