A Brit left in a coma after falling from a balcony while on holiday in Croatia has told how she has had to learn to walk and talk again. Jennifer Walsh was getting ready for a night out with friends when she fell from a hotel balcony in Dubrovnik and 'nearly died.'
The 23-year-old toppled over the wall of the balcony when her foot got stuck while putting on her shoe. She fell around 40ft to the ground, suffering a bleed on the brain, two separate skull fractures, a broken collar bone, a fractured wrist and broken ribs which punctured her left lung.
The next thing Jennifer remembers is waking up in hospital having been put in a coma after the fall last October. She told the Daily Record : “I was in an apartment getting ready with friends we had met on a boat trip earlier that day. I went out to the balcony to collect my shoe and put it on but my foot got stuck on the balcony ledge.

"I then woke up in hospital a week later to see my mum in hospital. Everything in the middle is a total blur. Because I was on so much medication, to begin with I didn’t realise what had happened. I was too out of it to be scared. But now I can’t believe what happened, I’m just so happy to be here and healthy. I nearly died.”
Her distraught parents James, 48, and Victoria, 54, flew to Croatia to be at their daughter’s hospital bedside. Victoria said: “On the flight there, James and I were taking turns to cry. We were beside ourselves. Due to Covid, we could only visit Jennifer in hospital for 15 minutes.
