Michael Mosley is urging people to take on a simple three step exercise routine in a bid to live longer, slow ageing and lose weight.
The muscle-strengthening exercises could even help boost your metabolism and boost brain function, explains the inventor of the well-known 5:2 diet. The nutrition expert suggests that the way to enjoy all the benefits mentioned above is weight training.
Speaking on his BBC Sounds podcast Just One Thing, the presenter detailed recent evidence suggesting that doing muscle-strengthening just a few minutes per day can "confer some remarkable health benefits", including helping you live longer, reports WalesOnline.
"An American study found that muscle mass is one of the strongest predictors of longevity, even more than weight or body mass index. Researchers followed 3,600 men and women over the age of 50 for a decade they found that those who had more muscle mass were at a lower risk of death from all causes", he added.
The diet guru further explained that muscle training can benefit your metabolism and waistline as well as reducing your blood sugar levels, with some evidence suggesting it slows down ageing.
Michael said: "Strength training may even reverse ageing at a cellular level. In one small but fascinating study, scientists asked 14 older people to do strength training twice a week for six months and then compared their muscles to that of younger adults. They looked at the parts of the muscle cells that generate energy, the mitochondria.
"Normally these wane with age but the older adults who had been doing strength training boosted their mitochondria levels similar to those seen in younger men and women."
There are three exercises in particular that Michael advised, with all movements easy

a trend of filming videos for social media showing them ranting over items in stores, aggressively confronting store employees, and even destroying Pride displays. Many conservatives subsequently accused Target of seeking to “indoctrinate” or “groom” children into either being LGBTQ themselves or being supportive of LGBTQ people.Citing threats it had received from irate shoppers, and a desire to protect their employees from potential violence, Target decided to pull Pride-themed children’s merchandise from stores, especially items incorporating rainbows or that use colors that traditionally have not been associated with a certain gender, such as boys’ clothes in pastel colors, notably pink. The store also pulled a line of adult swimsuits marketed for its ability to “tuck” genitalia for transgender women. Some right-wing outlets had previously reported that the “tuck-friendly” swimsuits were marketed to children, but the Associated Press later confirmed the swimsuits were only for adults.During the May 24 episode of her self-titled podcast for the Daily Wire, Owens asserted that Target was pushing an agenda through its Pride-themed merchandise, and encouraged conservatives to boycott the big box store.“[J]ust in case you think that conservatives are wrong or are joking when we say this stuff is satanic, Target actually hired a satanic designer,” Owens said, referring to another aspect of the Target controversy.

Aramide Tinubu Katherine Song Covey (Anna Cathcart), aka Kitty, is a Gen Z dream. Since she was introduced six years ago in the “To All The Boys I Loved Before” trilogy, the precocious younger sister to Laura Jean (Lana Condor) and Margot (Janel Parrish) has walked to her own beat. Steadfast, determined and slightly nosey, Kitty’s incessant meddling helped connect LJ to her long-term love Peter (Noah Centineo). With the new spinoff TV series, “XO, Kitty,” the youngest Covey sister is stepping into the spotlight and going after the life she feels she deserves, even if that means getting her heart broken in the process. From the minds of “To All The Boys” novelist Jenny Han and “Glow” scribe Sascha Rothchild, the series opens in the final hazy days of a Portland summer. Kitty has grown frustrated with the distance in her long-term relationship with Dae (Choi Min-yeong), whom she met several years prior during a family vacation to Seoul, South Korea. With her sisters out of the house, she’s left to twiddle her thumbs with her father, Dan (John Corbett), and step-mom, Trina (Sarayu Blue). However, Kitty refuses to resign herself to a “typical” high school experience. Instead, she convinces her parents to allow her to attend the prestigious Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS). It’s the same school that Dae attends and where Kitty’s late mother, Eve, spent one magical year of her life.
