Metro Boomin executive produces new Spider-Verse movie soundtrack

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” has finally arrived.After a nearly five-year wait, the highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s breakthrough (and Oscar-winning) “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” is here. And it’s magnificent. Shameik Moore returns as Miles Morales, who thanks to his friendship with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) and Peter B.

Ellise Shafer Tom Holland’s favorite movie starring the Marvel superhero Spider-Man is actually not one of his own. Holland, who has donned the Spidey suit for three standalone movies as well as “Captain America: Civil War,” “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame,” told the Associated Press on Thursday night that 2018’s animated “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” is “the best Spider-Man movie that’s ever been made.” “I think the first ‘Spider-Verse’ movie is the best Spider-Man movie that’s ever been made,” Holland told the AP at the premiere of his new Apple TV+ series “The Crowded Room.” “I’m so proud of everyone involved. [Producer] Amy Pascal is like my mom. I was supposed to go with her [to the premiere] as her date, I couldn’t go because I’m here working. But I’m incredibly proud of them, I’m excited for the second one. I’m sure it will live up to every expectation, and I can’t wait to see it.”

As theatres swing back into the Spider-Verse, the highly anticipated sequel, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”, captured a remarkable $17.35 million in Thursday previews, setting the stage for an expected opening weekend of $80 million or more.

Columbia Pictures’ and Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Across the Universe is casting its web in international box office markets with  $13.5M through Thursday. That’s 2.5x the original in like-for-likes.

Amy Pascal is sharing some new details about the upcoming Spider-Man movie.

ABC News has tapped Brooke Brower to serve as executive producer of This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

Brian Steinberg Senior TV Editor Brooke Bower, a veteran of CNN and MSNBC, will take the reins of ABC News’ “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” as its new executive producer, filling in a gap left by the tragic demise of the show’s previous leader. Brower, who had been managing editor of CNN Politics, will report to Kim Godwin, president of ABC News. Kendall Heath, who had been working as the show’s interim executive producer, was named executive producer of politics, reporting into Stacia Deshishku, ABC News’ executive editor, and will work with political director Rick Klein during the election season. “As the 2024 election season gets underway, I look forward to Brooke and Kendall working closely with the talented teams at ‘This Week’ and all our great reporters and producers in the Washington bureau, led by Jonathan Greenberger, and the political unit under the leadership of Rick Klein and Averi Harper, to bring straightforward political journalism to our viewers at a time when it’s needed more than ever,” Godwin said in a memo sent to staff Wednesday.

But the images in “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” have an intoxicating unpredictability. The film makes you feel like you’re dropping through the floors of a modern art museum on acid, yet there’s a thrilling moment-to-moment logic to it all. The madly eclectic images express something — an eyeball-tickling explosion of quantum physics, or a subliminal nod to some comic-book style from decades ago that’s so retro it’s new, not to mention bedazzling. This feels like it could have been the first movie designed to earn a thumbs up from Andy Warhol and Stephen Hawking.

The soundtrack for the upcoming Greta Gerwig-directed ‘Barbie’ movie has been announced, with Lizzo, Haim, Charli XCX and Tame Impala among the artists who have contributed new music. While some press reports have described the film as a queer project, Quinto tells me we won’t be seeing him and Elordi steam up the screen: “I wouldn’t say it’s an overtly queer story, but I will say that there are undertones of both emotional and physical tension between these two characters.” The actors became close during filming. “We talked a lot about his desire to do theater,” Quinto recalls. “I was like, ‘Go do a play in London. Go do a play in New York. That’s where you really cut your teeth.’ I’m sure we’ll see him onstage at some point.”
