Parminder Nagra made a welcome return to TV screens recently, with the actress taking centre stage in new ITV drama DI Ray. Metallica have released an addition to their Blackened American whiskey line.The new liquor Rye The Lighting, which is named after their iconic 1984 album ‘Ride The Lighting’, was crafted using low hertz frequencies from the band’s music to vibrate the barrels.According to Rob Dietrich, master distiller for the whiskey line, Metallica’s Rye the Lightning is crafted from Kentucky straight rye whiskeys aged between 5-8 years and then finished in Madeira wine and Caribbean rum casks for 2-14 weeks each.A post shared by BLACKENED® (@blackenedamericanwhiskey)The tasting notes include “dried fig, hay, pinewood, pear, and rum cake on the nose,” as well as “clover honey, mint, corn husk, sugar cane, walnut, and cinnamon”.The sonic enhancement process for the liquor involves barrels being placed in a room while the band’s music is played through special speakers. For this specific batch, Metallica’s 2012 Orion Music performance in Atlantic City, New Jersey, rocked the barrels.The ‘Ride The Lightning’ portion of that set marked the only time the band had ever played that album live in its entirety.“I absolutely love the high spice and earthy notes in American rye whiskey!” the distiller shared about Metallica’s latest drink.

Helen Mirren and her husband, Taylor Hackford, are speaking out about the death of Taylor's son Rio Hackford. In a joint statement on Tuesday, the married couple said Rio, 51, died of "uveal melanoma, a very aggressive and rare form of cancer." The couple, in their statement to People magazine, encourages everyone reading about Rio's death "to get their eyes tested once a year, which might save their loved ones from this cancer." Naman Ramachandran U.K.-based sales agent Dogwoof has revealed the world sales acquisition of “Lynch/Oz,” Alexandre O. Philippe’s feature documentary about the enduring influence of Victor Fleming’s 1939 film “The Wizard of Oz” on David Lynch’s cinema. The film is premiering at the Tribeca Festival in June.This is the third collaboration between Dogwoof and Philippe, Kerry Deignan Roy and Robert Muratore’s Exhibit A Pictures.

The full Tribeca Film Festival lineup of 109 feature films from 40 countries and 88 world premieres for the 2022 event that takes place June 9-18 has been announced. It’ll be interesting to see if some of the films at the festival will end up being popular breakouts, land major studio/streamer distribution, or eventually move on to get recognized during awards season.

The Tribeca Festival has unveiled its 2022 lineup of 109 feature films from 40 countries and 88 world premieres including  Joachim Back’s Corner Office starring Jon Hamm and Somewhere in Queens, directed by Ray Romano starring Romano and Laurie Metcalf.

Helen Mirren has paid tribute to her stepson Rio Hackford, who has died aged 51. Hackford was the son of film director Taylor, whom Mirren has been married to since 1997. He died from an unspecified illness on Thursday 14 April.
