The Met Office has warned of heavy showers alongside thunder in the coming days.
In its long-range forecast, the weather office said the weekend will see a "mixture of sunny spells and showers" across many parts of the country. Some areas will also see heavy showers which "could be accompanied by thunder".
Those hoping for a warm summer will also be let down in the coming days as temperatures are expected to be below normal for this time of year, resulting in some cold days and evenings. After the weekend, showers are expected to continue throughout.

Going further into next week, the Met Office highlighted that there will a wide variety of different weather conditions, with none being more dominant than the other. This will result in spells of drier, sunny weather as well as some showers or long periods of rain.
In its north west forecast for this weekend, the Met Office said: "Turning wet and windy on Thursday, then brighter with scattered heavy showers on Friday and Saturday. Rather cool on Thursday, but turning slightly warmer thereafter, especially by night."
Longer predictions for the end of the month are currently forecasting similar weather patterns. This includes a wide variety of weather patterns throughout many parts of the country.
However, the Met Office highlighted that "all areas can expect to see some spells of drier, sunnier weather". However, this will be accompanied by some showers or even longer spells of rains.
Temperatures are also not expected to improve much, with forecasters currently predicting them to be "close to or slightly above climatological average".
