A member of an alleged Encrochat gang was found with cocaine under the spare wheel of his Porsche, a trial has heard.
The Manchester-based group are said to be of the 'highest level of criminal firearm trafficking ever encountered by law enforcement in the UK', prosecutors allege. It is alleged that they were involved in the supply of class A and B drugs and firearms across the country.
Prosecutors have said that members planned to set up an importation route into the UK to 'expand their business'. The group's alleged crimes are said by prosecutors to have been carried out between January and June 2020.

Closing the prosecution case, the court heard that when one of the group was arrested, police officers found two packages of cocaine under the spare wheel of his Porsche Macan.
Reading a number of agreed facts to the jury, prosecutor Neil Fryman outlined the dates in which the different usernames were in use, varying from January to June 2020. He added that officers were unable to retrieve data from the username ‘mr.miaghi’, who was previously alleged to be at the top of the chain.
When each of the men were arrested, a number of items were seized including drugs, the court previously heard. This included amphetamine which was found in the freezer of Daniel Gibbons, and 838,000 paracetamol tablets worth up to £425,000.
Mr Fryman said the tablets could be sold as diazepam. “Diazepam is a class C controlled drug, it is prescription only and is used to treat anxiety and sleeping problems,” he said.
