Meghan Markle reportedly called her PR team "in hysterics" following Buckingham Palace’s reaction to an interview about Prince Harry. A new book, which Meghan was reportedly dreading the release of, claims that the Palace was upset when she spoke out about her relationship with Prince Harry during her 2017 Vanity Fair cover interview.
It also claims that Meghan was upset that the feature focused on her relationship with the prince as opposed to her activism and charity work.Tom Bower, the author of new book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors, claims Meghan was “ecstatic” when she received the request to appear on the cover of the magazine’s September 2017 issue. However, when the story was published with the headline “Wild About Harry” on the cover, Bower claims the Palace was taken aback as it focused on her relationship with Harry rather than her work as an actor and activist.
After the magazine’s pre-publication copies were sent to Buckingham Palace, Bower says that Meghan phoned her PR team and “hysterically” told them of how the Palace wasn’t too pleased with the framing of the article. Meghan herself was also reportedly upset that the piece did not focus more on her philanthropy, although this was reportedly because Vanity Fair researchers were unable to substantiate two key stories she had told about her activism as a young child, according to The Sun.
Although the Duchess had reportedly been warned not to speak about her relationship with the prince in the interview, journalist Sam Kashner was surprised when Meghan spoke about their relationship. As reported by Vanity Fair in 2017, Meghan said: “We're a couple.
We're in love. “I'm sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward
