Meghan Markle ’s name was altered on her son Archie’s birth certificate, in an unusual move reportedly "dictated by the Palace". The raven-haired beauty and one time actress, 41, gave birth to her first child, Archie, with Prince Harry on 6 May, 2019.
His birth was registered 11 days later, before an amendment was made on 5 June. The little royal’s birth certificate was edited to name his mother as "Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex" instead of "Rachel Meghan" as it originally did.
According to the Sun, this was an unprecedented move and differs from that of Kate Middleton and Prince William, who used Kate's names on their children's birth certificates. Author Omid Scobie tweeted a statement "from a spokesperson for Duchess Meghan", which read: "The change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by the Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials.This was not requested by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex nor by the Duke of Sussex." Mere days after the alteration, the Sussexes left the Fab Four's joint charity and months later, they left the Royal Family entirely.
