Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in talks over a potential second sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey as a form of "damage control" against new revelations it has been claimed The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to want to respond to claims made in a new book by former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown. Ms Brown interviewed a number of insiders and royal contacts for the book, called The Palace Papers, which details the backdrop to Prince Harry, 37, and his wife stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
In the book Ms Brown accuses the couple of being “addicted to drama”, and slams them for causing “maximum mayhem" within the royal family. The claims had “really gotten under Meghan’s skin” according to a source.
“She’s told her team that something needs to be done" an insider close to the 40-year-old told Heat Magazine. “She’s so sick of the negative headlines and she’s desperate to come out fighting with some major damage control.
“Meghan feels as though doing another chat with Oprah is the best way to change the narrative and counter all the negative claims she’s read about herself recently. "She’s been in contact with Oprah’s people already.” Among the specific claims the Meghan wanted to refute was Ms Brown's account of when the Sussexes visited Australia and the South Pacific in 2018 reports the Express.The author, who also wrote the Diana Chronicles in 2006, quoted a former palace employee as saying she "hated every second of it." “Instead of being excited when thousands of people showed up at the [Sydney] Opera House, it was very much like, ‘What’s the purpose? I don’t understand this,’ Ms Brown said the ex-staffer relayed to her.
