'Loot' Preview: Maya Rudolph and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez Make a Smoldering New Friend (Exclusive)

Maya Rudolph’s character Molly finds herself being recognized for her ongoing charity work. In ET’s exclusive sneak peek of “The Philanthropic Humanitarian Awards,” Molly and Sofia (Michaela Jaé Rodriguez) make a smoldering new friend at the bar. After the two women, who are still navigating life working together at Molly’s charity, are forced to wait at the bar before someone takes their order, a striking stranger played by Olivier Martinez offers to pour them some cocktails. It turns out this man is Jean-Pierre Voland, a wealthy man whose family owns the vodka that the women are now drinking. Not only does the clip formally introduce Martinez, who has a recurring role on season 1, but it shows the playful banter between Rudolph and Rodriguez, which holds the hilarious comedy together. While speaking to ET, the two opened up about the bond they formed on and off screen while making the series.

Maya Rudolph is a lap-dancing, partying billionaire in ‘Loot’: review

Apple TV+ comedy series “Loot,” about a billionaire entering a new chapter in her life after a painful divorce. And, for the most part, it’s a slick and entertaining ride. Premiering June 24, the series, created by Matt Hubbard (“30 Rock”) and Alan Yang (“Master of None”), revolves around Molly Novak (Rudolph), who’s celebrating her 45th birthday with her husband John (Adam Scott) — who throws her a lavish party and gifts her a new yacht with multiple pools (she suggests using the smallest pool for her dogs, Mary Kate and Ashley). When Molly discovers that John has been cheating on her with a younger woman, they divorce – and since they didn’t have a prenup, Molly is now one of the wealthiest women in the country. Newly single, she parties it up and becomes tabloid fodder for antics including falling into a pool at a party and giving a waiter a lap dance (in her defense, she thought he was Sting). She’s surprised to learn that she has a charitable foundation, led by the intimidating Sofia (Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, “Pose”), who is not happy that Molly’s post-divorce spiral is generating bad press.

Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine says he’ll “forgive” David Ellefson, but “just won’t play music with him anymore”

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has opened up on the dismissal of band co-founder David Ellefson last year, saying he’ll “forgive” the former bassist but “just won’t play music with him again”.Ellefson was accused of grooming an underage girl online last year when several explicit screenshots and videos surfaced of the bassist and the girl, who later denied she was underage and said the interactions were consensual.Ellefson also denied the accusations, calling the contents of the images and footage “private, adult interactions that were taken out of context and manipulated to inflict maximum damage to my reputation, my career and family” – but was ultimately fired from Megadeth two weeks after the accusations emerged.“While we do not know every detail of what occurred, with an already strained relationship, what has already been revealed now is enough to make working together impossible moving forward,” read a statement Mustaine issued at the time.“Let me just say this – it was a hard decision that had to be made,” Mustaine has said of Ellefson’s firing in a new interview with Metal Hammer. “There were a lot of people involved and I had to make a decision, because unfortunately, when you’re the leader, you’re the one that has to suck it up and face the music.”Mustaine continued, “All I wanted to do was make a clean break, and not hurt anyone, not hurt the fans and not hurt him.

Caroline Framke Chief TV CriticIn one of the only times anyone’s told Molly (Maya Rudolph) the hard truth in the decades since her husband (Adam Scott) became a billionaire, she’s stuck in a private jet hangar somewhere in the middle of Oklahoma. Having just tried essentially to airlift the staff of her foundation, which she only realized existed after very messy public divorce, to Miami for the weekend, Molly’s forced to face the fact that she’s been living in a completely different reality from 99.9% of the rest of the world.“Your life is different from everyone else’s here.
