Maya Jama has hailed 2024 as the "best year ever" as she reflected on her career highlights over the last 12 months. In January, the 29 year old took over as the new presenter of Love Island, fronting both the winter and summer instalments of the ITV2 show, before being signed up for Peacock's US spin-off, Love Island Games.
In her personal life, she's also rekindled her romance with rapper Stormzy, 30, after their split back in 2019. On Friday, December 29, the TV star took to her Instagram story to celebrate her successful year, writing: "Wild to think I only started hosting @loveisland this year! "About to start my forth series in a couple of weeks I never do a year wrap up big post but career and life goals wise this has def been one of the best years for me personally cannot wait for 2024." Maya added: "Over all this year was about working my batty off and also having as much fun as possible.
"If it was a chapter in a book it would be called 'burnt the candles at both ends but loving it'." Maya went on to share some of her career highlights from the last 12 months, which included gracing the cover of British Vogue in July, before landing her role as the face of Dolce & Gabbana in September.
This year, Maya was also appointed global brand ambassador for Rimmel London, following in the footsteps of Kate Moss and Adwoa Aboah. Maya is also happier than ever in her personal life.
She and Vossi Bop singer Stormzy got back together earlier this year after splitting in 2019, going on to make their first public appearance as a couple at the Vogue Forces For Change party in November. They were spotted hand-in-hand on the red carpet and also at the Miu Miu after party at The Hound Bar at George.

Maya Jama apparently “blames herself” for the death of her late boyfriend Rico Gordon, who was shot dead when he was visiting the TV presenter in Bristol. Love Island presenter Maya was 16 years old at the time of Rico’s death, and his mother, Anna, 55, said the two were “deeply in love” with one another. Rico was aged 21 when he died on 3 July, 2011.
Many Love island fans have been left scratching their heads at the mystery relationship between Georgia Steel and Toby Aromolaran. The pair are both Islanders on new Love Island spin-off show, Love Island: All Stars, but the pair clearly already knew each other, prior to starring on it.Toby, 24, entered the villa as the girls chilled by the pool, causing Liberty Poole to turn to Georgia, 25, and ask: "Are you ok?" Seemingly uneasy at his entrance, Georgia answered "yes" and went to have a reunion hug with Toby, who previously dated fellow islander Chloe Burrows for a year. Later, Georgia chose to stand next to Toby when host Maya Jama asked the girls to stand next to the guy they fancied the most.
There was plenty of drama raised from the first episode of Love Island All Stars (four exes back in a villa together? Brutal) but the most amount of drama came from Maya Jama's hair, in the best possible way. Maya blessed us with two different hairstyles for the opening show, debuting both a defined, voluminous curly look as well as a sleek half-updo. We can't pick our favourite but it seems her followers can because as soon as the 29-year-old posted the curly look to her Instagram page, the comment section lit up with praise for the style.
Love Island's first-ever All Stars series is now underway, and all eyes are on the returning presenter, Maya Jama. In fact, given Maya's history of selling out outfits (the 'Maya' effect, as we now call it), we wouldn't be surprised if the star garnered more attention in this series than the All Stars themselves. With an expected duration of two months, we're also looking forward to weeks' worth of Maya looks and outfit inspiration as the series hots up.
