Matt Willis is reportedly set to candidly explore his past addictions with alcohol and drugs in an upcoming documentary, it has been claimed. Former Busted star Matt, 39, is reportedly filming the project with BBC, which is said to be expected to air later this year. Matt is said to have not long began filming to documentary, which is reportedly being produced by the same team which created Roman Kemp: Our Silent Emergency.
The documentary will reportedly see Matt explore his past issues in depth, which he has refrained from doing in the past. An insider told The Sun: "This will be equally personal for Matt, as he has never delved so deep into his past before, at least not in public. "It will reveal how some of his problems stemmed from a childhood where his parents made him feel he should conform to male stereotypes.
"That included telling him that boys don’t cry, which meant he never shed a tear until he was 29 years old. "The Mirror has contacted Matt's representatives for comment. Last year, Matt revealed how he discussed his past addiction issues with his three young children.
Matt shares Ace, Isabelle and Trixie with his wife Emma Willis, who he wed in 2008. He has never hidden his past from his children, who are all aware Matt cannot drink as he has spent time in rehab to address his struggles with drink and drugs. Opening up about how he addresses this past part of his life, and his ongoing recovery with his children, Matt told Fabulous magazine: "I quit alcohol a few months into Isabelle’s life and I just hope she wasn’t impacted by [me drinking] at all.
