Married At First Sight UK star Whitney Hughes has revealed why some of her family members refused to attend her wedding ceremony on the show. The TV bride, 31, who starred on the 2022 season of the hit E4 show, had a rocky time after she embarked on a romance with groom Matt Murray, despite the fact they were both married to other people – Whitney to Duka Cavolli and Matt to Gemma Rose. So it was no surprise that Whitney became the source of much of the drama and dinner party rows.
Now she's opened up about how some of her family didn't attend her 'intense' ceremony due to their shock that she even wanted to get married in the first place. In an interview with Betway, Whitney admitted that while her family were supportive of her shock decision, they chose not to get too "deeply involved in it". She said: "They were shocked that I of all people would want to get married.
I’d never introduced my family to a guy before, I very rarely dated so they were shocked that I made that decision. "But they didn’t tell me not to do it. Some of my family didn’t turn up to my wedding, though.
They supported me but they didn’t want to be that deeply involved in it, which I totally understand." Whitney also went on to explain that the pre-wedding jitters didn't hit her until she was about to walk down the aisle and come face-to-face with her groom Duka for the first time.
But her nerves got the better of her as she revealed that they had to film her wedding entrance twice. She told Betway: "The ceremony was super intense, just having all those eyes staring at you, judging you, and looking you up and down. "We had to re-run it twice.
