NBC has set a date when Christopher Meloni will return as Elliot Stabler to the Law & Order television franchise.

hotly anticipated series “Law & Order: Organized Crime” will premiere April 1 as part of a two-hour crossover event with “Law & Order: SVU.” The show will see Christopher Meloni’s return to the franchise after spending a decade away (during which he spent his time on a wide variety of shows, from “True Blood” to “The Handmaid’s Tale”).Meloni, 59, first rose to prominence playing retired NYPD Det. Elliot Stabler for the first 12 seasons of the long-running series, from 1999-2011.

Christopher Meloni's anticipated return as Elliot Stabler on has been set for a two-hour crossover event starting Thursday, April 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, NBC announced Thursday, reuniting him with Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson after nearly a decade.Meloni will then launch into his spinoff at 10 p.m.

Stabler will aim to rebuild his life as part of a new elite task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful criminal syndicates one by one.

Dylan McDermott, who was recently nominated for an Emmy for his role in Netflix’s Hollywood, is heading to New York to star in Law & Order: Organized Crime.
