Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni's 'Law & Order: SVU' Reunion Sets Date for Crossover Event

Law & Order: SVU in a decade, but their friendship never faded. And now, Meloni is returning to the Law & Order franchise in the upcoming Law & Order: Organized Crime.

NBC has set a date when Christopher Meloni will return as Elliot Stabler to the Law & Order television franchise.

hotly anticipated series “Law & Order: Organized Crime” will premiere April 1 as part of a two-hour crossover event with “Law & Order: SVU.” The show will see Christopher Meloni’s return to the franchise after spending a decade away (during which he spent his time on a wide variety of shows, from “True Blood” to “The Handmaid’s Tale”).Meloni, 59, first rose to prominence playing retired NYPD Det. Elliot Stabler for the first 12 seasons of the long-running series, from 1999-2011.

Elliot Stabler is back. NBC has set a premiere date for its high-profile new Dick Wolf series Law & Order: Organized Crime, which features the return of Christopher Meloni as the NYPD detective he played for years in Law & Order: SVU. And he will be reunited with Olivia Benson as the series debuts April 1 as part of a two-hour crossover with SVU.

Marc Wilmore, a writer and producer known for his work on "In Living Color," "F is for Family" and "The Simpsons," died at age 57 due to complications from the coronavirus. Marc’s brother, comedian and talk-show host Larry Wilmore, confirmed his younger brother’s passing with a heartfelt eulogy posted on Twitter.  "My sweet sweet brother, Marc Edward Wilmore, passed away last night while battling COVID and other conditions that have had him in pain for many years," Larry wrote Monday.

Dylan McDermott is joining the team. The  star has signed on to the cast of the upcoming  spinoff series, .McDermott will star alongside Christopher Meloni in the new series, which has not yet announced a premiere date.

Dylan McDermott, who was recently nominated for an Emmy for his role in Netflix’s Hollywood, is heading to New York to star in Law & Order: Organized Crime.
