Millions of people have received one-off payments worth £451 directly into their bank accounts to help with the cost of living crisis this year.
In April and May, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) sent around eight million households on means-tested benefits a payment of £301 each. That added up to more than £2.4 billion in funding provided to families across the UK.
Then, over June and early July, nearly seven million people claiming disability benefits should have received a £150 boost paid directly into their bank accounts. That amounted to £1 billion to support disabled people.

In Greater Manchester, payments of £301 went to 423,700 households, while 317,800 individuals with a disability received £150. In total, that adds up to £175.2 million sent to our area.
Manchester received the highest amount in cost of living payments, a total of £38.1 million - the fifth highest amount of any local authority in the country - followed by Wigan (£19.3 million).

In total across the UK, £3.4 billion has so far been paid out to struggling families and individuals to help them cope with the cost of living crisis.
The bulk of the money (£2.8bn) went to England, with London receiving the biggest share of cash, a total of £445.5 million, followed by the North West (£441.6m), the South East (£360.8m), and the West Midlands.
A total of £299.5m was paid to families and individuals in Scotland, £192.0m in Wales, and £152.8m in Northern Ireland.
