Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has insisted Dean Henderson is not ready to replace David de Gea as Erik ten Hag's first-choice goalkeeper.
The England international has spent this season on loan at Nottingham Forest. Henderson impressed under Steve Cooper before picking up an injury that has kept him out for several months.
United are in talks with De Gea to renew his contract but his recent mistake against West Ham United has left fans questioning whether they need a new goalkeeper. MEN Sport understands that his first-choice status is not secure.

With Henderson's future also up for debate, Silvestre has insisted that Henderson is not the heir to De Gea's gloves. He believes the 26-year-old needs to improve his leadership and show more presence in goal.
“At this point of time I still think Dean Henderson is not (ready to be) the No.1 for United for where they want to go," Silvestre told Bettingexpert.com. "He has to continue and still grow as a leader.
"It is really important for a goalkeeper, not just being good technically. You have to show a presence and be a big, big leader in the squad.”
