Manchester United prospect Amad has furiously denied reports that claimed he does not want to play for the Ivory Coast national team and has refused call-ups.
Signed by United from Italian side Atalanta in January 2021, the teenager has been capped four times by the Elephants since making his debut last year. However, he only played five minutes in their underwhelming 2022 Africa Cup of Nations campaign and the Ivorians have missed out on the World Cup finals in Qatar.
In their absence, the African flag will be flown by Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Cameroon and Egypt. As for Amad, he spent the second part of last season on loan with Rangers.

Despite showing glimpses of his ability north of the border, though, the United star was not always a guaranteed pick with the Glasgow club and his loan spell ended in heartbreak with defeat in the Europa League showpiece to German opponents Eintracht Frankfurt, on penalties, in Seville.
Meanwhile, Amad took to Instagram to refute the claims that he refused to link up with his national team. Posting two stories in French, he said: "Absolutely false, this information. I have never declined the call of our national team and I even intend to pursue those who circulate this information to tarnish my reputation in the eyes of Ivorians. I love my country and I will always be available when the country calls me.
"I love my country and I would be available when the country appeals to me. Why [do they] want, at all costs, to smear my image just to have likes on the networks [internet]? I strongly condemn this false information about me and I I will pursue all those who are the basis of this publication."
